Maple Leaf International Schools – Hainan is one of many schools within Maple Leaf Educational Systems located in Haikou city of Hainan province. Hainan island is the southern most province of China, also known as the “Hawaii of China.” It is famous for its tropical weather, coconut trees, and sandy beaches.

MLIS-Hainan district has multiple schools, including a Kindergarten, Elementary, Middle, and High School. The main “Haifeng” campus hosts a Chinese K-12 program as well as the international high school program in grades 10-12. The Haifeng campus is located centrally in Haikou on a 70,000 square meter property comprising of teaching buildings, administrative building, multipurpose building, dormitories, cafeterias, auditoriums, gymnasium, sports field, etc.

The international high school program offers the Maple Leaf World School curriculum in grades 10-12, is taught in English, and has approximately 200 students. The school is accredited by Cognia, a global leader advancing educational excellence through accreditation and continuous school improvement. The school accreditation and curricular benchmarking model ensures a high-quality learning environment for the ultimate benefit of our students.

Students who join our school are primarily Chinese nationals who are English-language learners. We offer several programs to support the needs of students based on their English ability. The ESL Grade and Pre10 programs are designed to provide intensive English practice and eventually feed the World School program in grade 10. Students in the World School program receive a rigorous academic program, in line with western standards, to prepare them for a successful transition into top post-secondary institutions around the world.
