Mrs. Jacalyn (Jackie) Kersey Maple Leaf’s Superintendent of Schools: International Programs..


Mrs. Kersey brings a wealth of previous experience to the position, including: Bachelor of General Studies from Simon Fraser University, Professional Development Program in Education at Simon Fraser University, and a Master of Education in Administration and Leadership from the University of Alberta.

Mrs. Kersey has 11 years of teaching experience, and 12 years of principal and vice principal experience at both elementary (K-7) and secondary (8-12) levels in British Columbia public schools. She has served on committees setting School District directions in budget, assessment and curriculum. Planning and Implementation of new BC curriculum at the School District level, including Core


Mrs. Kersey is interested in travel, literature, and sports. She has 3 children and her husband also works for Maple Leaf.

About Dr. Patrick Thalheimer



Dr. Patrick Thalheimer was appointed August 16, 2023, as the Superintendent of China Maple Leaf educational Systems International Program. CMLES International Program has 16 schools located in many cities in China. Thirteen of these schools offer the Maple Leaf World School Curriculum, a purpose built curriculum designed to support Chinese students to attend overseas English language universities, with the other three offering the British Columbia curriculum from Canada. He is CMLES’s 7th Superintendent since the inception of the company in 1995, and stands on the shoulders of former leaders!


Dr. Thalheimer plans to focus his work during the first semester of 2023-24 on Quality Assurance to ensure that ALL students receive the highest quality classroom instruction and are actively involved in their learning. As a part of this initiative, CMLES staff will identify important data, analyze it and develop school improvement plans, designed to enhance the delivery of curriculum and assessment in each school, as well as add to the overall student experience.


Dr. Thalheimer joined CMLES in April 2021 as the Global Recruitment officer, recruiting teachers from around the world for CMLES. He became Principal of the MLIS Wuhan campus in August 2021, Assistant Superintendent in April of 2022 and then Superintendent in August 2023.


Dr. Thalheimer previously served internationally as both elementary school and middle school Principal in Bahrain, and high school Principal in Guangzhou, achieving significant improvement in student achievement and parental satisfaction in both cases.


Dr. Thalheimer is from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, where he served as both a high school and middle school Principal. Both of these schools increased their enrollment under his leadership, due to an enhanced ability to meet the needs of a diverse student population.


Dr. Thalheimer completed his doctorate in senior educational leadership at the University of Calgary in 2015. He holds a master’s degree in curriculum and supervision from Gonzaga University and a bachelor’s degree in education with a major in secondary English.


Dr. Thalheimer is passionate about using education to improve the lives of students. He believes that every student deserves a high quality education that unlocks possibilities and supports students to achieve their dreams.
