THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE MAPLE LEAF WORLD SCHOOL PROGRAM

A Brand-New Model: One Diploma, Dual Accreditation, and Global Recognition

One Diploma

“One Diploma” refers to the MLWSP High School Transcripts and Graduation Certificate issued by Maple Leaf Educational Systems after completing a set of integrated Chinese and Western courses.

Dual Accreditation

“Dual Accreditation” refers to the accreditation by both Cognia and Ecctis; that is, the third-party international accreditation from Cognia, as well as the independent review and curricular benchmarking provided by Ecctis.

Accreditation from Cognia

Maple Leaf has been accredited by Cognia (formerly AdvancED) since 2016. In August 2019, AdvancED and Measured Progress merged to form Cognia, the world’s largest accreditation agency, which works with more than 40,000 institutions around the globe, serving 25 million students, and 5 million teachers in 85 countries. Cognia accreditation includes accreditation of 3 of the 6 regional accrediting agencies recognized by the United States Government, i.e., North Central Association of Schools and Colleges (NCA) Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement, Southern Association of Schools and Colleges (SACS) Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement, and Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges (NWASC) Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement. According to US News, 6 of the top 10 high schools in the United States are accredited by Cognia, demonstrating Cognia's authority and influence.

Accreditation from Ecctis

Ecctis is the designated national agency for the United Kingdom responsible for standards of international qualifications and skills. Ecctis' benchmarking and international comparisons are respected worldwide by more than 1,000 international education providers and government agencies.

Ecctis has benchmarked MLWSP with other international mainstream curricula, such as Canada (BC), United States (New York) and UK A-level through a three-year phased-in approach.

Cognia provides third-party international accreditation and validation for Maple Leaf grade 12 graduation student transcripts and diplomas to ensure their credibility and their reliability for global university admissions. Ecctis' curriculum benchmarking provides external assurances for colleges and universities to establish reliable admission standards efficiently and conveniently for MLWSP graduates, so that these institutions do not have to individually assess the MLWSP.

Global Recognition

“Global Recognition” means MLWSP graduates can apply directly to global English-language universities, including international programs in Chinese Universities, with their MLWSP transcripts and graduation diplomas. In addition to accreditation from Cognia and Ecctis, the brand value from more than 20 years of successful educational practice of Maple Leaf also contributes to successful global recognition.

Since the implementation of MLWSP three years ago, Maple Leaf has received official support letters from 113 universities in 12 countries. All universities have expressed their recognition and support for MLWSP and prioritized the admission of Maple Leaf World School graduates. As the number of signed universities continues to increase, Maple Leaf graduates will have more and more choices for further education in both domestic and international universities. As of September 2023, the first cohort of 1,145 grade 12 graduates have received 4,282 offers from domestic and international universities. 80% of them have been admitted to QS Global Top 100 Universities. They were admitted to 236 higher education institutions from 18 countries and regions, including 17 students who were admitted to the top ten universities in the world.

The Significance of Implementing and Promoting MLWSP

Innovation

As the world’s first internationally accredited program with Chinese characteristics, MLWSP fills the gap in the Chinese program in the field of K-12 international education, and is uniquely designed and more suitable for non-native English students, especially Chinese students. The MLWSP has successfully responded to the national strategies and actively implemented them.

Necessity

Maple Leaf Educational Systems is devoted to training cross-cultural elites mastering English to tell stories of China in a more understandable way, which plays a unique role in the new era of national education opening-up, serving the “Belt and Road” initiative, and in the process of building “a community with a shared future for mankind”.
