Greetings All!
I am excited to be joining the Maple Leaf Family this 2023-2024 school year!
We are a co-gender, international, boarding and day school in north-eastern China with a diverse group of teachers from all over the world working in collaboration to support each other and our scholars. While most of our scholars are Chinese nationals, Maple Leaf International School – Dalian has the System’s largest divergent group of international scholars on our campus.
At MLIS – D, we blend the best educational practices of China with the West in our prominent curriculum that has been specifically designed for English Language Learners. We encourage our scholars to explore their interests and abilities outside of the classroom to emerge into well-rounded individuals. Our scholars are extremely talented artists, athletes, scientists, humanitarians, and developing leaders. Although we teach the content of our curriculum, at the heart of Maple Leaf we are educators of scholars. We focus on continually developing the values of respect, responsibility, honesty, and hard work in our scholars to prepare them for success in their post-secondary studies and as future global leaders.
Every learner is provided with dignity, value, purpose, and options that grow their confidence, curiosity, capabilities, and self-sufficiency. We expose scholars to a challenging curriculum that helps them to develop a strong understanding of, and respect for, diverse ways of being, doing, and knowing. Our scholars are motivated by positive reinforcement and a focus on developing a growth mindset. We believe that all scholars learn better with the support of strong relationships with their educators and peers.
