Surina is the International Program Principal in Maple Leaf Tianjin TEDA campus, and she is also the System Mathematics Coordinator since 2018. Surina is from Vancouver, BC, Canada, and she holds a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Pedagogy from UBC, and B.Ed. and B.Sc. in Mathematics from UBC. Surina has been an active member of the Maple Leaf World School curriculum team and is a curriculum writer for the ML Math curriculum.

Mr. Bass is from Canada. He earned his degree from the University of Western Ontario in Canada. He started his journey with Maple leaf since 2020 and is currently the Social Studies department head. He likes hiking and reading.

DMs. Buchanan is from the beautiful island of Jamaica. She obtained her undergraduate degree from the Northern Ms. Buchanan is from the beautiful island of Jamaica. She obtained her undergraduate degree from the Northern Caribbean University in Jamaica. She is an English and Leadership teacher, while also supports the school as an academic advisor. Her educational philosophy states, “If my students do not learn the way I teach, I must teach the way they learn.” ~Estrada

Ms. Carter is from Jamaica, in the Caribbean. She has completed her master’s degree with Walden University, in the area of Curriculum Development. She enjoys writing stories and poems, travelling, and listening to music. She is desirous of learning to play at least two musical instruments, completing her doctorate, speaking one new language, and having global impact in the next 1-5 years.   

Ms. Chibuwe is from Zimbabwe. She graduated from ASU. She started at Maple Leaf in 2018 and currently leads the Business Electives and Leadership department while assisting with student management as an Education Coordi-nator. Her hobbies include travelling, reading, cooking and all things business.

Mr. Coffin is from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and has been working at Tianjin TEDA Maple Leaf as an English teacher since December 2012. He is currently Department Head of English 12. He completed his BA in English Literature and B.Ed at the University of Ottawa. Favourite activities include reading, listening to music, and cycling. He is currently on page 743 of War and Peace and wonders if he will ever finish!

Mr. Hertwig is from Southern Ontario near London, Canada. He graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with a Journalism degree and then from Western University with his bachelor and a master in education. He has been with Maple Leaf Tianjin since 2017, recently becoming the English 11 Department head. He loves to cycle whenever he can, play all kinds of video and board games, and learn a thing or two about cooking and baking along the way.

Mr. Khan is a Math and Science teacher. He has been at Maple Leaf Tianjin since 2017 and believes it has been quite an experience. Before he came to China, he was in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada (near Toronto), where he taught for a few years and where he is from originally. Mr. Khan graduated from the University of Waterloo with an engineering degree many years ago, dabbled in computers and IT, developed an interest in tutoring at some point, and then later decided to get my teaching degree at the University of Western Ontario (now known as Western University). In his spare time, he likes to read, listen to music, play simulation games, go for walks, and travel when he has the chance.

Ms. Li is from Ontario, Canada. She completed her BA at Brock University and obtained her B.Ed. at York University. This is her third year in Maple Leaf's Fine Arts department serving as a Visual Arts teacher. She is passionate about painting and drawing. 

Ms. Liu is from Calgary, Alberta. She studied Biology and has a B.Sc. from the University of Toronto and a B.Ed. from the University of Calgary. She has been teaching Science, Chemistry and Biology at Maple Leaf since 2020. She likes to play the violin and go hiking in the mountains. 

Ms. Madelyn Madamba is a BSED graduate at the Isabela State University in the Philippines, majoring in English and Literature. She is currently pursuing her Master degree of Education in Northeastern College. She joined Maple leaf in 2014 and is currently the International Program High School Vice-Principal. She is highly motivated and guided by Benjamin Franklin’s quote, “
Tell me and I forgot, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn”. She is passionate about cooking and enjoys walking with her dogs.

Mr. McGeachy graduated from Brock University with a B.Ed. He also has a MA in History from Ottawa University. He has been at Maple Leaf for six years and is currently a Maple Leaf Tianjin-TEDA Master Teacher. His hobbies include exercising, reading and volunteer work. He also enjoys studying Chinese – tremendous learning experience.

Coach Nelson was born in Galveston, Texas, in the United States. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Human Performance (Kinesiology) at Prairie View A&M University. Coach Nelson has taught physical education, health, and dance for over ten years. Coach Nelson moved to China on January 1st, 2020, where he taught in Inner Mongolia and Tianjin as an ESL educator and physical education teacher. Coach Nelson is finishing his master’s in public health while working as a physical education Department Head at the Maple Leaf Tianjin.

Mr.  Robinson from Perth, Western Australia. He completed a BA/Commerce double degree at Curtin University in Perth with Distinction averages on both degrees before doing his teaching qualification at the University of Western Australia in Perth. After moving to Tianjin in 2012, he worked in various teaching jobs, including a co-operation program at a vocational college in Tianjin teaching accounting and economics courses which he developed the material for. He started at Maple Leaf in 2020 as a business teacher and in 2021 he started teaching the economics course here. Mr. Robinson enjoys spending time with my family, listening to a wide range of music, reading a wide range of books, and is also very interested in history.

Mr. Tsegai Sebhatu is from Toronto Canada. He Graduated in Mathematics and Computer Programming from the Universities of Asmara, Eritrea and George Brown College, Toronto Canada respectively. He has also pedagogical qualifications from Queen’s University Ontario, Canada.

Mr. Sensenstein is a free-spirited young man with a zest for life. He was born in the small town of Ingersoll, Ontario - though his life truly began in China five years ago. An education at Lakehead University gave him the skills and proficiency to become one of the top three Educational Coordinators at Maple Leaf. When not at school, Mr. Sensenstein enjoys maintaining a private and fulfilling personal life.

Mr. Vos is from Brantford Ontario, Canada. He graduated from Carleton University. Currently in his 8th year of teaching at Maple Leaf Tianjin. Mr. Vos is currently teaching English and is the Department Head for English 10. He enjoys traveling with friends and family to new places, playing music and being active outdoors.

Ms. Wang is from Tianjin, China. She achieved B.A and B.Ed from Queen’s University in Canada and just completed her M.Ed in the area of Educational Studies at the University of New South Wales. She joined Maple Leaf in 2021 as a social studies teacher. She enjoys traveling and listening to music.

Ms. Mei is from China. She completed her B.Ed and M.Ed at Thompson Rivers University in Canada. She joined Tianjin Maple Leaf high school team in 2019. She is enjoying listen to music and writing Chinese calligraphy.   

Mr.Xi was born in Tianjin but moved to Calgary, Canada where he pursued a Bachelors in English and Education. He started working at Maple Leaf Tianjin Campus in 2019 as an English teacher. Now he teaches classes in English as well as Food and Nutrition. During his spare time, he likes to read and play video games.
