Academic High School – Resident Life Advisor (RLA)

Vacancy Summary:

Location: Maple Leaf School – LakeheadU, Thunder Bay, Ontario
Start Date: August 15th, 2019
Contract Term: Two years
Probationary Period: Three months
Required Credentials & Experience:

  • Fluent English (4 domains)
  • Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check
  • Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status, or with a valid Work Permit
  • Minimum two years experience working with secondary students
  • Minimum two years post-secondary guidance counselling experience
  • University degree in education, psychology or related field.

Desirable Skills:

  • First-Aid Certification
  • Second language
  • Familiarity with Pearson”s Powerschool Pro
  • Familiarity with myBlueprint

RLA General Duties

The Resident Life Advisor position at MLS-LakeheadU is a position that requires the incumbent to board on campus, in close proximity to students. RLAs are dedicated and engaged in the school community. Their general duties include:

  • Night & Weekend Dormitory Supervision
  • Evening Study Supervision
  • School Based Team Member
  • Post-Secondary Counselling
  • University Admissions Representative Liaison
  • University Offer Data Tracking
  • IELTS Examination Coordinator
  • House System Supervision and Promotion
  • Student Orientation
  • Weekend Activity Program, Development and Coordination
  • Student Volunteer Program Support
  • Grade Level Student Meetings
  • Exam Invigilation
  • Proficiency in PowerSchool Pro, Schoology, myBlueprint
