Life in China City Guides

These guides have been prepared by our school staff to provide a snapshot of life at each of our schools. They cover topics that introduce the local areas around the school, with tips on where to eat, shop and how to get around, along with other helpful tips from our teachers and staff who are familiar with the local scene.

Teacher candidates often inquire about the cost of living in China. Although costs vary somewhat from place to place, an individual’s lifestyle is the biggest cost factor. Many teachers at MLES find that they can make significant contributions to their savings while working in China. A web search of ‘cost of living in China’ will provide you with several interesting resources, some with city specific details. It is worth noting that our schools are mainly located outside of the city centres where things are usually less expensive.
