Maple Leaf Educational Systems
Life in China – City Guide Series

If you are a teacher considering applying to work for us or if you have just signed an employment contract this section will give you an idea of what it’s like to live and work in China. This series of city guides are updated annually by staff who work at each of our Maple Leaf International School campuses.

Moving to a foreign country can be both exciting and frustrating. China has a lot of history and culture making it a unique destination for work and travel. It is home to 1.37 billion people and as a result it can be extremely busy and crowded. In recent years China has experienced significant economic development and investment in infrastructure throughout the country. While always unique, daily life in China now shares many similarities with countries throughout the world. Major cities have Western supermarkets, fast food restaurants and department stores. During your time working with Maple Leaf Educational Systems we invite you to experience the language and culture, make new friends with coworkers and students, explore different places and try new things.
