Academic Teacher Information
Salary
During the Teacher’s employment with the School, the Teacher shall be entitled to receive the following remuneration (2008-09 School Year Salaries):
Year 1 --------------- CDN 44,000.00
Year 2 --------------- CDN 45,000.00
Year 3 --------------- CDN 47,000.00
Year 4 --------------- CDN 48,000.00
Year 5 --------------- CDN 50,000.00
Year 6 --------------- CDN 52,000.00
Year 7 --------------- CDN 53,000.00
Year 8 --------------- CDN 55,000.00
The annual salary will be paid once a month over 12 months, (from September 15, to August 15, each year)
in either Canadian dollars or Chinese Yuan RMB or combination of both, as determined by the Teacher. The
School, at the Teacher’s request will arrange for deposits to bank accounts in Canada.
Where a teacher starts work part way through a school year, the teacher will be paid pro rata for the portion
of the year worked.

Benefits
- Medical Insurance. The school will provide medical insurance for the Teacher, and his/her spouse and dependent children living with him/her in China, through an internationally recognized insurance company (TieCare). The coverage is International Plus.
- Airfare. The School will provide annual return airfare from the point of hire (or equivalent distance maximum) to the city where the School is located for the Teacher and his/her spouse, if the Teacher has worked at the School for a full school year. The School will also pay for one half of the return airfare costs for dependent children living with the Teacher in China, if the Teacher has worked at the School for a full school year.
- Visa costs. The School will assist the Teacher in obtaining a working visa.
- Excess Baggage. The School will arrange delivery to China of two boxes (totalling a maximum of 4 cubic feet) of teaching materials. The boxes must be delivered to Maple Leaf’s Vancouver office by the first week of August.
- Teacher Investment Plan. Teachers entering a third year of employment with Maple Leaf will receive an additional 3% of their salary contributed to a Teacher Investment Plan for them by Maple Leaf Educational Systems. Maple Leaf’s contribution rises by 1% per year of service to a maximum of 10% for ten or more years. Teachers may also contribute to their Teacher Investment Plan account.
Housing Accommodation
Furnished apartments are provided for teachers who wish to live on campus at Maple Leaf Schools that provide on-campus teacher apartments. Monthly rent ranges from approximately $250(CAD) for a one-bedroom to $450(CAD) for a three-bedroom apartment. Maple Leaf will locate suitable, furnished apartments for teachers that is near Maple Leaf Schools that do not provide on-campus teacher apartments. The monthly rent for a furnished apartment in these localities is approximately $400-600(CAD). Confirm housing accomodation with each individual Maple Leaf school.
