International Students’ Office
An International Students Office is located on campus at the Dalian Maple Leaf
International School: Jinshitan High School Campus. The International Student’s Office
staff serve to meet the needs of students not from mainland China. The Office helps to
make life for an international student at DMLIS a pleasant experience.
Staff
Michelle Harvey is the international student counselor responsible to care for international students in the British Columbia, Canada program. She is also the main contact for English speaking parents of international students in the BC program and deals with all questions and concerns in this area.
Li Zhuo is secretary for the International Students’ Office. In addition to secretarial duties, she also renews visas and completes other legal work required for international students in China. She is fluent in Chinese and Korean and also speaks some English.
Services
The International Students’ Office provides the following types of services:
- New student orientation
- Personal counseling and adjustment assistance
- Monthly group meetings with the International Student Counselor and Principal and/or Vice Principal
- Academic counseling for high school course selection and application to universities/colleges
- Visa renewal and other legal document requirements for international students in China
- E-mail system for on-going communication with parents of international students
- Internationals Student Association – Monthly meetings of International Student Association Representatives and International Counselor
- Recreational and peer-friendship building activities – Examples include field trips, pizza lunches, year end beach party, etc.
