Extra Curricular Activities

Walking through the Jinshitan high school campus to catch the final game of the men’s ball hockey tournament, I passed the basketball courts and there were no fewer than four student games taking place. I could hear two student bands practicing in the background, and the choir and piano rooms were full of students. When I came to the lower field, there were two soccer games in mid-swing, as well as court soccer and tennis matches.

In the gym, more basketball and badminton were in action, as well as students playing billiards. There are running, weights and fitness, volleyball, ping pong and football clubs to keep students entertained after school and on weekends. But if sports aren’t your forte, consider the drama production, the speech club, the English Café and the various talent competitions and showcases that rehearse and practice around the school year.

Of course, there are always academic tutorials after school, which help improve students’ grades. There are mentoring and leadership opportunities in PE, English tutoring, Visual and Performing Arts and Student Union as well.
