School Certification
The process of Accreditation is the most important step in becoming a British Columbia offshore high school. In order to become an accredited high school, the following criteria must be met.
- All courses accepted by the British Columbia Ministry of Education are taught in English.
- The principals and teachers are all British Columbia certified.
- Courses meet the specified learning outcomes of the B.C. Ministry of Education.
- Record keeping follows the B.C. Ministry of Education guidelines.
- Grade 10-12 students write B.C. Provincial Examinations for those courses which have provincial exams.
- The High School undergoes rigorous, annual, on-site inspections by B.C. Ministry of Education. Inspections include:
• Course overviews.
• Teachers' daily lesson plans.
• Student assessments.
• Classroom resources/facilities.
• Student work samples.
- Also included is an annual review of administrative practices, teacher certification and student records.
