Principal’s Message
Welcome to Chongqing Maple Leaf International School (CMLIS). We are an international school accredited and inspected annually by the British Columbia, Canada’s Ministry of Education, one of the top education systems in the world. All students at CMLIS take British Columbia (BC), Canada courses taught in English by BC-certified teachers. This program of study leads to a BC high school (Dogwood) diploma that is recognized by top colleges and universities around the world. Chinese students also take courses in Mandarin from Chinese-certified teachers that qualify them for a Chinese high school graduation certificate as well.
Our campus is located in the Yongchuan District of Chongqing. The school opened in September 2009 and our first graduating class will receive their diplomas June 2012. We currently enroll over 130 students and expect to grow to 1500 in the next few years. Our facilities include fully equipped classrooms, science labs, computer rooms, a multi-media theatre, cafeteria, gymnasium and dormitories, as well as outdoor facilities for basketball and volleyball and a full size track.
The school’s mission is to blend the best of East and West by promoting higher level thinking skills and ensuring that all students master basic skills in numeracy and literacy while they develop skills and knowledge in advanced studies in their areas of interest. We take pride in providing an environment that fosters positive student growth intellectually, physically and emotionally. Our school values include respect, responsibility, honesty, hard work and the belief that “Everything is about Everybody Learning.” We strive to create a positive school climate that prepares students for future studies at post-secondary institutions around the world.
